Eating well on a student budget shouldn’t be a challenge and Sustain Me is here to make sure you’re sorted.
What started at our Callaghan campus has become one of the best kept (but increasingly hard to keep) secrets at UON. Operating out of The Nook, Sustain Me has been serving affordable meals to students who want something filling, warm and does not leave you financially “cooked”, pun intended. We’re talking about meals as low as $1.50, even the “fancy” options maxing out at just $5.50. In this economy? Say less.
But this isn’t just about affordable meals; it’s about the community it has created. Since launching, Sustain Me has already fed over 1,700 students, proving that a good meal can go a long way when it comes to supporting student wellbeing.
One moment that really captures this was when a student, after loving their meal a little too much (we get it), decided to pay it forward prepaying meals for a few people behind them in the queue. What started off as a quick lunch stop turned into a moment of genuine kindness. It’s those small, unexpected moments that have helped shape Sustain Me into more than just a meal service.
What started with Tuesdays and Thursdays at Callaghan has grown into something much bigger. Sustain Me has now expanded to NUspace and the Central Coast, with participating retailers offering affordable meals across multiple days of the week.
And it doesn’t stop there. Sustain Me is only getting started. There’s a fun event on the horizon (we won’t spoil it just yet), but let’s just say things are only getting bigger (and tastier) from here.
So next time you’re on campus and your wallet’s feeling a little light, you know where to go. Sustain Me has your back and your lunch.
